Former all-rounder Azhar Mahmood has been appointed as the head coach of Pakistan for the upcoming series against New Zealand, where the men’s team is scheduled to play a five-match T20I series in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

In addition, Wahab Riaz has been named as the senior team manager, while Mohammad Yousuf and Saeed Ajmal will serve as the batting and bowling coaches, respectively.

Pakistan had been seeking a permanent head coach, with figures like Shane Watson considered at one point.

Mahmood’s current tenure is limited to the forthcoming tour.

Previously, Mahmood served as the bowling coach of the national team until 2019 and has also held coaching roles in the Pakistan Super League.

Since the departure of Grant Bradburn and Micky Arthur, who served as Director of Cricket, Pakistan have been without a full-time coach.
