Australia has delivered a reality check to Bangladesh ahead of World Cup

Head coach Hashan Tillakaratne acknowledged the lack of competitiveness from his squad.
“It’s undeniably disappointing,” Tillakaratne remarked to reporters after the final T20I match.
“Losing to the world’s top team is understandable, but our performance and lack of challenge against them are concerning.”
Tillakaratne emphasized the need for introspection to identify their shortcomings, mentioning the significant role fear of failure played in their performance.
“We must analyze our mistakes and bounce back strongly.
The fear of facing Australia affected our gameplay, which was evident in our performance.
We need an honest discussion with the players to understand what went wrong and improve.”
While disappointed, Tillakaratne remained optimistic about the team’s future, stressing the importance of consistency and improvement, especially with crucial series against India and upcoming tournaments on the horizon.
“We’ve invested a lot in these players, and they have the potential to make a comeback.
Facing Australia was a learning experience, highlighting areas we need to work on to compete at the highest level.”
Meanwhile, Australian captain Alyssa Healy expressed satisfaction with her team’s performance, noting the valuable experience gained and the positive atmosphere within the group as they prepare for future challenges, including the T20 World Cup.
