The final of the World Test Championship will take place from June 11 to June 15 at Lord’s, London, as announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC), with a reserve day scheduled for June 16 if necessary.
This will be the third edition of the WTC final hosted in England.
The inaugural final in 2021 was held in Southampton, where New Zealand triumphed over India, while the second final in 2023 took place at The Oval, with Australia defeating India.
India currently tops the WTC standings, closely followed by Australia.
The top two teams at the end of the two-year cycle of Test cricket qualify for the final.
“Winning the World Test Championship was, and remains, a major goal for this team.
It’s the result of consistent hard work over the two-year period for all teams.
Hopefully, we’ll be there again, but there’s a lot of cricket still to play.
Fans can look forward to watching us defend the title,” said Pat Cummins, captain of defending champions Australia.
This will be the first time Lord’s hosts the WTC final.
“Test match days at Lord’s are always special, and welcoming the two best men’s sides in the world to compete at the Home of Cricket will be an unmissable experience,” said Guy Lavender, Chief Executive and Secretary of the Marleybone Cricket Club (MCC).
