Harleen Deol’s maiden century outshines Matthews’ seventh as India clinch the series

India Women scored 358/5 in 50 overs, where as West Indies Women scored 243 in 46.2 overs.
So, finally India Women beat West Indies Women by 115 runs.
Hayley Matthews’ seventh ODI century went in vain as India secured a commanding 115-run victory in the second ODI in Vadodara on Tuesday, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Harleen Deol played a key role in the win, scoring her maiden ODI century.
India, opting to bat, made a strong start with Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal blasting breezy half-centuries.
Mandhana signaled her intent early, pulling the second ball of the innings for a boundary.
Rawal joined in shortly after, driving Deandra Dottin through extra cover.
The pair put on a rapid 110-run partnership in 99 balls, with Mandhana hitting a six off both Matthews and Afy Fletcher.
The stand was broken when Mandhana was run out after a mix-up while attempting a two.
Rawal soon reached her half-century but India’s scoring rate slowed significantly, with boundaries drying up.
Deol, in particular, struggled early on, but she was fortunate to be dropped on 19 by Dottin at square leg.
Rawal, trying to accelerate, was dismissed for 76, caught at mid-wicket off Zaida James.
Despite India maintaining a run rate of over five an over, Deol was only on 34 off 52 balls by the time Harmanpreet Kaur started her brisk knock.
Just as Deol began to pick up the pace with three consecutive boundaries, Harmanpreet was bowled by Fletcher.
However, Deol and Jemimah Rodrigues kept the momentum going.
Rodrigues launched into James, hitting six boundaries in seven balls, while Deol added three more in an over against Dottin.
India took full advantage of the erring West Indian bowlers, amassing 109 runs in the final 10 overs to finish with their second-ever 350-plus total in ODIs.
In the chase, Matthews fought valiantly but lacked support from her teammates.
The West Indies were reduced to 69 for 4 in the first 16 overs, with Qiana Joseph, Nerissa Crafton, Rashada Williams, and Dottin back in the pavilion.
Matthews and Shemaine Campbelle attempted a revival, sharing a 112-run partnership.
Campbelle attacked Priya Mishra, hitting three consecutive boundaries, but the required run rate kept climbing.
They kept pushing the scoring, but once Campbelle was caught off Titas Sadhu, the West Indies’ resistance faltered.
Matthews brought up her century but was soon caught at deep mid-wicket after being dropped on 103.
The West Indies’ lower order showed brief fight through James and Fletcher, but India’s bowlers, led by Mishra’s three wickets and a brace each for Deepti Sharma, Rawal, and Sadhu, wrapped up the innings, sealing a comprehensive victory.
