At the Lunch of Day-1:

England scored 134/2 vs West Indies

Ben Duckett’s sparkling half-century was the highlight of the morning session on the opening day of the second Test between England and West Indies at Trent Bridge.

After West Indies opted to bowl first and struck in the first over, England quickly turned the tables, posting 134/2 by the lunch break.

The hosts were under pressure early when Alzarri Joseph made an impact just three balls into the game.

Zak Crawley was squared up by a back-of-a-length delivery and edged one behind to third slip.

However, Duckett counterattacked immediately, smashing the first four balls he faced for boundaries, stunning the bowling side in just the second over of the day.

The first six overs resembled a T20 game, with Duckett, in particular, unleashing a flurry of boundaries.

England set a new record for the fastest Test fifty by a team, reaching the milestone in just 4.2 overs.

The onslaught continued as Duckett brought up a half-century off just 32 balls.

Shamar Joseph and Kevin Sinclair managed to pull things back somewhat by delivering a few quiet overs, which finally brought the run rate below six.

That brief spell resulted in a wicket as Duckett edged one behind to second slip for 71.

Ollie Pope then broke the shackles with a four and a six before receiving a reprieve just before the break.
