Day-2 Morning Session Highlights:

Harry Brook and Joe Root half-centuries has helped England to make a comfortable lead

Gudakesh Motie picked up a couple of wickets, yet England still amassed more than 100 runs in the session.

At the Lunch of Day-2:

West Indies scored 121/10, where as England scored 293/6.

So, finally West Indies trial by 172 runs.

In contrast to the brisk scoring rate of nearly five runs per over in the final session on Day 1, England faced a tougher morning session on Day 2 at Lord’s, managing a rate of 3.71 with West Indies making regular breakthroughs.

However, England steadily progressed thanks to half-centuries from Harry Brook (50) and Joe Root (68), guiding them to Lunch on Day 2 at 293/6 with a lead of 172 runs.

Joe Root began cautiously before Harry Brook found momentum with a stylish cover drive off Jayden Seales for a boundary.

The pair brought up their fifty partnership, pushing England past the 200-run mark.

Brook continued to score fluently, including a perfectly executed late cut off Alzarri Joseph that took him into the 40s.

Root also joined in with confident strokes, including a pull shot and a classy cover drive for consecutive fours off Seales.

England’s lead surpassed 100 runs as Root added two more boundaries off Alzarri.

Despite West Indies’ attempts, their bowlers struggled with line and length, and the pitch offered minimal assistance.

Brook took advantage, hitting a six off Shamar Joseph and reaching his eighth Test fifty off just 55 balls with another boundary off Alzarri.

However, West Indies eventually broke the partnership as Brook fell to Alzarri, top-edging a pull shot to the wicketkeeper, ending a productive stand worth 91 runs in 120 deliveries.

West Indies gained momentum further when Ben Stokes departed shortly after Root completed his half-century.

Root’s innings was cut short by a sharply turning delivery from Gudakesh Motie, bowling him for 68, marking his fifth consecutive single-digit score.

Debutant Jamie Smith opened his account in Test cricket with a boundary off a loose delivery from Motie.

Root continued to contribute with a boundary off a full toss from the spinner as England’s lead extended beyond 150 runs.

Jamie Smith faced tough challenges from the West Indian bowlers but managed to score boundaries with a flick and an off-drive off Seales in successive overs.

Motie deceived Root with an arm ball that ended in a bowled dismissal.

Chris Woakes initiated his innings with a well-timed cover drive off Motie and remained unbeaten alongside Smith at the lunch break.
