Sophie Devine has signed a contract extension with the Perth Scorchers, committing to two more years in the orange and black kit for the WBBL.
The star New Zealand allrounder, who was retained by the Scorchers in the inaugural overseas player draft last year, justified the decision by amassing 489 runs and taking 14 wickets, earning her a spot in the WBBL Team of the Tournament.
Devine, one of the world’s leading allrounders, is just two wickets shy of reaching 100 in the competition.
Expressing her delight at the extension, she described it as a ‘no-brainer.’
Devine, who captained the Scorchers to their first-ever title in the 2021-22 season, recalled it as a cherished memory.
“I’m absolutely stoked to be returning to the Scorchers,” Devine said.
“I’ve built such a special connection with the players and staff over the past four seasons, and I couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else.
Winning the WBBL|07 title in front of our fans at Optus Stadium will always be a special memory for me, and it’s something the whole group is incredibly motivated to achieve again.”
The Scorchers have also strengthened their squad with the signing of Mikayla Hinkley from Brisbane Heat, while Alana King has extended her contract with the club for three more seasons.
