Todd Greenberg has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Cricket Australia (CA), the board announced on Tuesday, December 3.
He will succeed Nick Hockley, who announced in August that he would step down from the role at the end of the domestic season in March 2025.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to take on this incredibly important role in Australian sport and to further my involvement with a game I’ve loved since childhood,” Greenberg said.
“This is a thrilling time for cricket, with the rapid growth of the game globally presenting fantastic opportunities, while also bringing challenges to ensure Australian cricket remains at the pinnacle of the sport.”
Greenberg brings extensive experience to the position, having previously held key roles with the National Rugby League (NRL) and the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, where he served as CEO.
He also held the position of General Manager of Stadium Australia and most recently served as the CEO of the Australian Cricketers’ Association.
“Thanks to the work of the current administration, the game has strong fundamentals in place.
I aim to build on this momentum to ensure Australian cricket continues to thrive, from local parks to the nation’s biggest stadiums,” Greenberg added.
“I’m grateful to all at the Australian Cricketers’ Association for the positive and productive partnerships we’ve built, and I look forward to continuing and enhancing these relationships for the benefit of the game.”
Having played first-grade cricket for Randwick in NSW Premier Cricket and served as the Events and Promotions Manager for Cricket NSW, Greenberg holds degrees in sports science from the University of NSW and a master’s degree from the University of Technology, Sydney.
“Todd brings invaluable experience from his leadership roles in the NRL, his tenure as CEO of the Australian Cricketers’ Association, and his background in club and stadium management,” said Mike Baird, the CA Chair.
“He is also a proven leader in driving commercial growth and innovation, having brought the State of Origin to Melbourne and introduced the NRLW.”
“We are entering an exciting period with significant opportunities, and the recruitment panel and CA Board were deeply impressed by Todd’s passion for cricket and his vision for building on the successes of recent years to continue the game’s growth.”
Baird also thanked Nick Hockley, who will leave the game at the end of the season, leaving Australian cricket in a position of strength with key foundations, including the broadcast rights deal, MOU, and seven-year content strategy already in place.
