Tilak Varma will captain the 15-member squad.

Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma has been appointed captain of the India A squad for the upcoming Emerging Teams Asia Cup, set to take place in Oman.

The tournament will be played in T20 format from October 18 to 27 in Muscat.

Alongside Varma, aggressive opening batter Abhishek Sharma has been named vice-captain of the 15-member squad.

Abhishek is one of only two players from the previous edition of the tournament, which was held in ODI format in 2023, with left-arm spinner Nishant Sindhu being the other returning player.

The squad is packed with talent, featuring explosive batting options like Prabhsimran Singh, Ayush Badoni, and Nehal Wadhera, all of whom have made significant strides in T20 cricket recently.

Ramandeep Singh, who delivered crucial performances during Kolkata Knight Riders’ title-winning 2024 season, has also been included.

The bowling attack will be led by pacer Anshul Kamboj and left-arm spinner Sai Kishore, complemented by several other reliable options.

India has been placed in Group B alongside Oman, Pakistan A, and the UAE.

Varma’s squad will kick off their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan A on October 19.
