Surya kumar Yadav is poised to make his return for the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming IPL 2024 season.
According to sources at Cricpulse, he has received clearance from the National Cricket Academy and is expected to join the squad on Friday, April 5.
The top-ranked T20I batter was last seen in action in December 2023, where he showcased his brilliance with a century against South Africa in the third T20I.
Unfortunately, he sustained a grade 2 ankle tear during that series, necessitating surgery.
Additionally, he underwent an operation for a sports hernia, prolonging his recovery period as he underwent rehabilitation at the NCA facility in Bengaluru.
Now, at 33 years old, Suryakumar Yadav is set to reunite with the Mumbai Indians during their practice session at the Wankhede Stadium.
Their upcoming home game against the Delhi Capitals on April 7 is on the horizon, and his participation will depend on his fitness performance during the net session.
The Mumbai Indians have faced a challenging start to the season, enduring three consecutive losses under the leadership of new captain Hardik Pandya.
Despite setbacks against the Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad at home, they also suffered defeat in their first home game against the Rajasthan Royals earlier this week.
