Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate in their final match of IPL 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday (May 17).
This marks the third time MI has been found guilty of the same offense.
Consequently, Hardik has been handed a one-match ban, echoing the penalty given to Rishabh Pant earlier this season.
However, since MI is already out of the tournament and it was their last league game, Hardik’s ban will extend to IPL 2025.
This ban remains in effect regardless of where Hardik plays in IPL 2025 following the mega auction.
The rest of the team has been fined INR 12 lakhs or 50% of the match fee, whichever is lesser.
Hardik endured a forgettable campaign in his first season as Mumbai Indians skipper after returning to the franchise.
He averaged only 18 with the bat, and more significantly, the five-time champions finished the campaign as the only team failing to touch double digits in the points tally, ending up at the bottom spot.
