Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib has received one demerit point and been fined 15 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during Bangladesh’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Group D match against Nepal.
The incident took place at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown on Sunday.
After Tanzim bowled a delivery in the third over of Nepal’s innings, he approached batter Rohit Paudel “in an aggressive manner and made inappropriate physical contact.”
This incident marks Tanzim Hasan Sakib’s first offense within a 24-month period.
Tanzim was found guilty of breaching Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which deals with “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee, or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match).”
The charge was leveled by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Sam Nogajski, with support from third umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal and fourth umpire Kumar Dharmasena.
Tanzim admitted to the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson, thus avoiding the need for a formal hearing.
