Pacer Shamar Joseph has secured a spot in the West Indies squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup set to take place in the US and the Caribbean.
Despite not having played an international T20 match yet, Joseph’s impressive performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League have earned him this call-up.
Earlier this year, he made a successful Test debut against Australia, showcasing his potential on the international stage.
In terms of squad composition, West Indies has maintained consistency with their recent selections for the T20 format, with Rovman Powell leading the team and Alzarri Joseph appointed as his deputy.
Shimron Hetmyer has returned to the squad, replacing Kyle Mayers, while pacer Oshane Thomas has been omitted to make way for Shamar Joseph.
The squad boasts a variety of all-rounders, including Roston Chase, Akeal Hosein, and Gudakesh Motie, who provide spin options for the team.
Having won the T20 World Cup twice before, West Indies finds themselves grouped alongside Papua New Guinea (PNG), Uganda, New Zealand, and Afghanistan in Group C.
