Namibia has announced their squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the USA and West Indies.
The team will be led by experienced all-rounder Gerhard Erasmus, with JJ Smit serving as vice-captain.
The squad includes several seasoned players who contributed to Namibia’s unbeaten run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier last year, ensuring their place in this prestigious tournament.
Notable inclusions in the squad are the T20 globetrotter David Wiese, and emerging talents such as fast bowler Jack Brassell, who had an impressive showing in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup.
However, the squad also sees the significant omission of Nicol Loftie-Eaton, known for his record-breaking fastest T20I century against Nepal.
Loftie-Eaton has been left out due to disciplinary issues.
Namibia’s group stage will see them competing in Group B alongside Australia, England, Scotland, and Oman.
They will kick off their campaign against Oman on June 2 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
The squad’s composition, blending seasoned players with fresh talent, aims to make a significant impact in their third consecutive T20 World Cup appearance.
