2nd Test
Day-2 Morning Session Highlights:
Gus Atkinson has got to his historic century in the second test against Sri Lanka

At The Lunch of Day-2:
England scored 427 (1st Innings), where as Sri Lanka scored 32/2 (1st Innings).
So, finally England lead by 395 runs.
Gus Atkinson made history by becoming only the second England player, after Sir Ian Botham, to achieve both a Test century and a ten-wicket match haul at Lord’s in the same season.
Alongside this remarkable feat, Atkinson’s marathon innings ensured England posted a formidable first-innings total, a position they reinforced with two quick strikes before lunch.
Chris Woakes and Olly Stone each claimed a wicket, with both Sri Lankan openers falling after chopping onto the stumps.
Nishan Madushka was dismissed early, and Dimuth Karunaratne followed just before the break, putting the visitors on the back foot.
Earlier in the morning, Atkinson dominated the proceedings.
Resuming on his overnight score of 74, the No. 8 wasted no time, contributing significantly to England’s tally on day two.
Although the hosts only lasted about an hour in the first session, they added 69 runs in 14 overs, with Atkinson smashing 44 of them.
As he neared his century, Atkinson remained composed, reaching the milestone with ease before finally falling to a weary stroke, but not before putting England in a commanding position.
Sri Lanka’s bowlers worked hard, with Asitha Fernando claiming a five-wicket haul.
However, the visitors struggled with consistency, especially after Tea on Day 1.
This, combined with Joe Root’s majestic performance and Atkinson’s extraordinary innings, allowed England to take control of the match.
