Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the first Test and Dewald Brevis has received a maiden call-up

Temba Bavuma, South Africa’s captain, has been ruled out of the first Test against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka due to a left tricep muscle strain, Cricket South Africa announced on Friday.
Despite his unavailability for the first match, Bavuma will travel with the squad to Dhaka on Tuesday and continue his recovery under the guidance of the medical team, aiming to be fit for the second Test.
In his absence, Aiden Markram will take over the captaincy.
Dewald Brevis has earned his maiden call-up to the Test squad as Bavuma’s replacement.
In another change, Lungi Ngidi has been named as a replacement for Nandre Burger, who will miss the Bangladesh tour due to a lumbar stress fracture.
Burger will begin his rehabilitation under the supervision of the CSA and Western Province medical teams.
The squad is set to convene for a red-ball camp at the Centre of Excellence in Pretoria from October 12 to 14, in preparation for the two-match Test series starting on October 21.
