Mahidul Islam Ankon has been named as the replacement for the concussed Jaker Ali for the Chittagong Test

Jaker Ali has been ruled out of the second Test due to a concussion.

Uncapped middle-order batsman Mahidul Islam Ankon has replaced wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali in the squad for the second Test against South Africa, following Jaker’s concussion.

“Jaker Ali suffered a concussion while batting in practice yesterday (October 27).

He has a history of concussions and continues to show symptoms.

Given his previous record, recovery may take some time.

Based on the clinical findings, he has been ruled out of the second Test,” said national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan in a statement on Monday (October 28).

Twenty-five-year-old Mahidul, representing Dhaka Division, has scored 1,934 runs in 43 first-class matches and recently made a hundred (118 against Sylhet Division) in his only innings in the ongoing National Cricket League.

The second Test is set to begin at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on October 29, with Bangladesh trailing the series 1-0.
