2nd Test
Day-2 Afternoon Session Highlights:
A century partnership has pushed the South Africa team beyond 500 runs
At The Tea of Day-2:
South Africa scored 527/6 (1st Innings) vs Bangladesh.
A century partnership between Wiaan Mulder and Senuran Muthusamy for the seventh wicket added to Bangladesh’s woes as South Africa surpassed the 500-run mark in the second Test.
While Bangladesh briefly fought back with an early wicket in the session, following three quick dismissals just before the break, Mulder and Muthusamy ensured that the visitors maintained control.
Mulder started the session with a boundary off the first ball, but Nahid Rana quickly claimed the crucial wicket of Ryan Rickelton.
That dismissal meant South Africa had lost four wickets for just 37 runs.
However, any hopes of Bangladesh restricting South Africa to under 475 faded as Mulder continued to find the boundary.
Muthusamy, though not hitting many boundaries, kept the scoreboard ticking at nearly a run a ball.
He then launched into Taijul Islam, hitting a four and a six off consecutive deliveries, stunning the home side.
Meanwhile, Mulder reached consecutive fifties in the series.
South Africa crossed the 500-run mark in style, with Mulder blasting back-to-back sixes off Mahmudul Hasan.
The multiple bowling changes failed to shift momentum for the home team, as the century partnership left them deflated.
