2nd ODI
Saim Ayub has powered Pakistan team to a commanding series-levelling victory
Zimbabwe scored 145 in 32.3 overs, where as Pakistan scored 148 for no loss in 18.2 overs.
So, finally Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by 10 wickets.
Led by Saim Ayub’s blazing unbeaten 113 off just 62 balls, Pakistan cruised to a commanding 10-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the second ODI in Bulawayo, leveling the series.
Chasing a modest target of 146, Pakistan reached the target in just 18.2 overs.
Zimbabwe, electing to bat first, lost their openers early, with Joylord Gumbie and Tadiwanashe Marumani both falling within the first four overs.
Dion Myers briefly threatened with a couple of boundaries against Abrar Ahmad but was soon dismissed, trapped LBW by Agha Salman.
The Zimbabwean middle order struggled to build partnerships as Pakistan’s bowlers kept the pressure on.
Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, and Brian Bennett all made starts but failed to convert, with Abrar taking four wickets and Salman claiming three.
Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 145 in the 33rd over.
Pakistan, having faltered in their chase of a low total in the first ODI, wasted no time going on the offensive.
Ayub got off to a strong start, pulling Blessing Muzarabani for a boundary in the opening over and continuing his assault on Richard Ngarava, driving him for multiple boundaries.
He dispatched Trevor Gwandu for a pull-shot six, bringing up his half-century in just the 10th over.
Brandon Mavuta’s over saw Ayub hit a six and then three consecutive boundaries, as the Pakistan opener’s dominance grew.
Abdullah Shafique, who was dropped early in his innings, played the perfect support role, as Pakistan easily chased down the target without breaking a sweat.
