Aiden Markram’s solid 47 not out boosted South Africa’s progress.

At The Stumps of Day-1:

Pakistan scored 211 (1st Innings), where as South Africa scored 82/3 (1st Innings).

So, finally Pakistan lead by 129 runs.

Through Dane Paterson’s five-wicket haul, Corbin Bosch’s impressive four-wicket debut, and Aiden Markram’s gritty 47*, South Africa ended Day 1 of the first Test against Pakistan in a stronger position, finishing at 82 for 3, 129 runs behind Pakistan’s 211.

Despite Kagiso Rabada bowling with impeccable line and length, he remained wicketless after challenging the batters on both edges.

South Africa quickly wrapped up Pakistan’s innings by removing Khurram Shahzad three balls into the final session, bringing an end to a bizarre Pakistan batting performance, marked by aggression despite frequent wickets falling.

Markram started South Africa’s chase with an elegant straight drive for four, but Shahzad struck early, getting Tony de Zorzi bowled with a beautiful delivery that seamed in.

Ryan Rickelton survived a review after he let a ball come in but was fortunate that it missed the stumps.

Markram capitalized on loose deliveries from Mohammad Abbas, hitting two boundaries to move into double figures.

Shahzad, however, removed Rickelton, who nicked a delivery behind to the keeper.

Markram and Tristan Stubbs then steadied the innings, putting on 44 runs, with Markram playing assertively and placing balls into gaps.

Stubbs, who scored just nine, fell in unfortunate circumstances when the ball kept low and trapped him LBW.

Markram and captain Temba Bavuma saw South Africa safely to Stumps without any further wickets.

Earlier, Pakistan had survived the first hour unscathed, but Bosch changed the momentum by dismissing Shan Masood off his first ball in Test cricket.

Paterson followed with the key wicket of Saim Ayub.

Babar Azam made just four runs, and Saud Shakeel’s brief, aggressive knock of 14 left Pakistan struggling at 56 for 4 before Lunch.

Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Rizwan steadied the innings with an 81-run stand, but Ghulam was dismissed shortly after reaching his fifty, falling to Paterson’s first delivery after the break.

Rizwan also fell soon after, nicking one to the slip.

Salman Agha and Aamer Jamal showed some resistance with a mini partnership of 47, but both soon departed, leaving Pakistan in further trouble.
