Sri Lanka has won the series 2-0 after the Pallekele ODI was abandoned due to rain
New Zealand scored 112/1 vs Sri Lanka.
Match was abandoned due to rain.
The third One-Day International between Sri Lanka and New Zealand was called off due to rain, with only 21 overs of play possible on Sunday in the dead-rubber contest at Pallekele International Stadium.
At the time of the abandonment, New Zealand had scored 112 for 1.
Having already lost the first two games and conceded the series, New Zealand chose to bat after winning the toss.
They made a strong start, with Tim Robinson driving and cutting Dilshan Madhushanka for boundaries in the opening over.
However, Robinson was dismissed in the fourth over, edging a drive to mid-off, giving Mohamed Shiraz his maiden ODI wicket.
Despite the early loss, Will Young capitalized on the bowlers’ erratic lengths, hitting two boundaries off both Shiraz and Chamindu Wickramasinghe in consecutive overs.
Henry Nicholls used sweeps and laps effectively, while the pair rotated the strike well in their unbeaten 88-run partnership.
Young reached his eighth ODI fifty just before rain halted play, and Sri Lanka concluded the three-match series with a 2-0 victory.
