India’s Yuzvendra Chahal has signed with Northamptonshire for a short county stint.

The leg-spinner will be available to play in their final One-Day Cup match of the season against Kent, followed by their last five Championship matches.

The 34-year-old previously played county cricket in 2023, representing Kent.

Chahal has made over 150 appearances for India in limited-overs cricket but is yet to feature in Test matches.

Although part of the squad that won the T20 World Cup in June this year, Chahal did not play in any matches.

Recently, he became the first bowler in IPL history to surpass 200 wickets, making him the leading wicket-taker in the competition.

“Yuzvendra is another high-profile overseas player who brings with him a wealth of experience and incredible skills,” said Head Coach John Sadler.

“His record speaks for itself, and his wicket-taking ability will add strength to our attack.”
