Pacer Mohammad Amir and all-rounder Imad Wasim have been included in Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand.
The duo recently emerged from international retirement, aiming for selection ahead of the T20 World Cup in June.
Led by Babar Azam, the team also features two uncapped batters, Muhammad Irfan Khan and Usman Khan, who earned their spots after impressive displays in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League.
“I am deeply honoured to be part of the Pakistan squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand.
Breaking into such a formidable team reflects the dedication and effort I’ve invested in my game.
Now, my focus is on seizing this opportunity and cementing my place within the team,” said Muhammad Irfan Khan, as stated in a media release by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Senior team manager Wahab Riaz, who also serves on the selection committee, described the decision to include Wasim and Amir as straightforward.
“The decision to include Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir was a clear one, given their availability for selection and considering Haris Rauf’s injury and Mohammad Nawaz’s current form.
Both Amir and Imad possess undeniable match-winning capabilities, and we trust they will consistently deliver strong performances to bolster the team’s objectives,” he stated.
