So, finally Washington Freedom beat Texas Super Kings by 42 runs.
Washington Freedom secured a comfortable 42-run victory over the Texas Super Kings.
Freedom captain Steve Smith opted to bat first on a used pitch, with both teams including a spinner due to expected turn.
Travis Head continued his impressive form, scoring 53 off 30 balls.
He took advantage of Zia-ul-Haq and Marcus Stoinis in the third and fourth overs, smashing 15 and 22 runs respectively, and reached his fifty off just 20 balls.
Freedom quickly reached 50 runs in four overs, prompting Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis to introduce Noor Ahmad.
Noor struck immediately, dismissing Head with a tossed-up delivery that resulted in a catch at deep midwicket.
The Super Kings then took two quick wickets: Andries Gous was trapped lbw by Dwayne Bravo, and Rachin Ravindra was caught by Noor off his own bowling.
With wickets falling regularly, Glenn Maxwell and Smith rotated the strike and hit occasional boundaries, setting up a strong finish.
Maxwell was dismissed by Noor, and Obus Pienaar played a rapid cameo of 33 off 21 balls.
Smith anchored the innings, reaching fifty in the 18th over, while Pienaar added two sixes off Stoinis in the final over to push Freedom past 200 runs.
In response, the Super Kings started aggressively in the Powerplay with Devon Conway and Faf du Plessis.
They managed 15 runs off Jansen in the third over, but Maxwell’s introduction in the fourth over led to Conway’s dismissal.
Du Plessis responded by hitting three sixes and a four off Amila Aponso, and reached his fifty off just 19 balls by the 7th over.
Despite a strong start, the Freedom bowlers tightened their grip, with Aaron Hardie and Joshua Tromp falling to pressure.
Jasdeep Singh, replacing Saurabh Netravalkar, took the crucial wicket of du Plessis with a slower ball.
The Super Kings’ situation worsened as Milind Kumar, Marcus Stoinis, and Dwayne Bravo fell cheaply.

Calvin Savage (35) fought hard for the Super Kings but ran out of partners.
Rachin Ravindra returned in the last over, picking up two more wickets to finish with four for the day and secure a convincing victory for Washington Freedom.
