Texas Super Kings vs MI New York
Texas Super Kings scored 176/6 in 20 overs, where as MI New York scored 161/7 in 20 over.
So, finally Texas Super Kings beat MI New York by 15 runs.
The Texas Super Kings stayed close to the leading Washington Freedom with a crucial 15-run victory over the defending champions, MI New York.
Asked to bat first, TSK was propelled to a total of 176, thanks to a blazing start from Faf du Plessis.
The TSK captain struck four sixes and as many fours in his 38-ball 61, dominating the 85-run opening partnership with Devon Conway.
Conway also contributed significantly with a 28-ball 40, but his dismissal at the start of the 14th over led to a slowdown in the TSK innings.
They managed only 57 runs in the final seven overs, with Rashid Khan delivering an excellent spell, conceding just 17 runs from his four overs.
Marcus Stoinis added a useful unbeaten 24 to push the total to 176.
Stoinis then set the tone in the defense, dismissing both MINY openers, Ruben Clinton and Steven Taylor, utilizing some swing under the lights.
The defending champions were reduced to 27/3 inside the Power Play when Zia-ul-Haq took out the dangerous Nicholas Pooran.
Kieron Pollard soon followed, falling cheaply to Zia, leaving MINY at 39/4.
In the first 12 overs of the chase, MINY managed only three fours, with none coming after the fourth over.
When all hope seemed lost, Monank Patel and Rashid Khan engineered a remarkable turnaround with some breathtaking hitting.
Naveen-ul-Haq conceded 25 runs in the 15th over, and Stoinis’s next over went for 18.
Monank reached his half-century off 38 balls, while Rashid got there in just 22 deliveries.
The pair brought the chase down to needing 40 off the final two overs, but veteran Dwayne Bravo conceded just eight runs in the penultimate over.
Although 16 runs came off the final over, it only highlighted the lost ground in the earlier part of the chase.
