MLC 2024 : Lockie Ferguson and Saurabh Netravalkar has propelled Washington Freedom to the top

Lockie Ferguson finished with impressive figures of 4 for 26.

Seattle Orcas scored 124 in 19.4 overs, where as Washington Freedom scored 127/5 in 18.2 overs.

So, finally Washington Freedom beat Seattle Orcas by 5 wickets.

The Seattle Orcas were dismantled by the pace duo of Lockie Ferguson and Saurabh Netravalkar, who combined to take seven wickets.

The Orcas were bowled out for just 124 after being put in to bat, with only Heinrich Klaasen providing substantial resistance with a 30-ball 51.

The rest of the lineup crumbled, failing to set a competitive total.

Ferguson and Netravalkar each claimed an opener during the powerplay, putting the Orcas on the back foot early.

Despite Klaasen’s efforts to keep the innings steady, the rest of the team struggled.

Ferguson dismissed Quinton de Kock for 24 and took out Imad Wasim and Hammad Azam in the same over.

Klaasen was then removed by his South African teammate Marco Jansen, and Netravalkar finished off the innings with two more wickets.

Chasing 124, Freedom faced an unexpected challenge.

Travis Head was dismissed for a duck on the second ball by Wasim, and Rachin Ravindra, Steven Smith, and Mukhtar Ahmed fell in quick succession.

At 53/4, Freedom’s position looked precarious, and Glenn Maxwell’s dismissal for 11 further increased the pressure.

However, Lahiru Milantha and Obus Pienaar combined for an unbeaten 63-run partnership for the sixth wicket, leading Freedom to victory without further complications.
