MI New York vs Seattle Orcas
Seattle Orcas scored 108 in 19.2 overs, where as MI New York scored 111/4 in 14.2 overs.
So, finally MI New York won by six wickets.
Defending champions MI New York started their MLC 2024 campaign with a comprehensive six-wicket victory over the Seattle Orcas in Morrisville.
After winning an important toss on a tacky pitch, MI New York’s star bowlers, Rashid Khan and Trent Boult, took three wickets each to bowl the Orcas out for 108.
This modest total was then chased down in 14.2 overs, with Nicholas Pooran scoring an unbeaten 62 off 37 balls.
As is now customary, Boult struck in the first over, dismissing Nauman Anwar with a delivery angling across him.
Boult claimed another wicket in his next over, sending Quinton de Kock back to the pavilion after a leading edge ballooned to the wicketkeeper, Pooran.
Rashid Khan, introduced in the last over of the Power Play, trapped Aaron Jones LBW with a full delivery.
Rashid then claimed the crucial wicket of Heinrich Klaasen, who miscued a pull shot straight to deep mid-wicket.
The Orcas continued to falter, with only Shubham Ranjane offering some resistance, scoring 35 off 31 balls before becoming Rashid’s third victim.
Boult also completed a three-wicket haul, while captain Kieron Pollard took two wickets as the Orcas were bowled out with four balls remaining in their innings.
MI New York’s chase began shakily, with openers Ruben Clinton and Monank Patel falling cheaply to Cameron Gannon.
However, Pooran counter-attacked, forming a 41-run partnership with Shayan Jahangir, who managed only 3 off 8 balls.
The Caribbean T20 star hit seven fours and two sixes, leading his team to victory with 34 balls to spare.
