Unmukt Chand celebrates after hitting a boundary, leading the LA Knight Riders to victory against the Seattle Orcas in MLC 2024.

MLC 2024 : Unmukt Chand has helped LA Knight Riders to secure a victory against Seattle Orcas

Unmukt Chand scored 62 during the chase.

Seattle Orcas scored 142/6 in 20 overs, where as Los Angeles Knight Riders scored 143/6 in 19.1 overs.

So, finally Los Angeles Knight Riders beat Seattle Orcas by 4 wickets.

Ryan Rickelton’s 89 off 52 deliveries went in vain for the Seattle Orcas as they slumped to their fourth defeat of MLC 2024, losing to the Los Angeles Knight Riders.

After taking a couple of overs to get set on an uneasy surface, Rickelton broke the shackles against Spencer Johnson, scoring 19 runs in the third over of the game.

An eventful fourth over saw the back of Shehan Jayasuriya, who premeditated a reverse scoop, while Quinton de Kock was caught short of his ground trying to take a quick single.

Having consolidated in the middle with Heinrich Klaasen, Rickelton smashed Waqar Salamkheil over deep mid-wicket and back over his head, rocketing the Orcas to 70-2 in 9 overs.

Klaasen was then run out at the non-striker’s end after Rickelton played a ball back to Narine.

While Rickelton managed to hold up one end, singles were hard to come by on a tacky pitch at Morrisville.

Only two double-digit scores in the entire innings meant that the Orcas mustered only 142-6 in 20 overs.

Andre Russell bowled his four overs without conceding a boundary for LAKR.

The Orcas, who brought in Lungi Ngidi, struck in the third over by castling Sunil Narine as his struggles with the bat this tournament continued.

Unmukt Chand got the perfect welcome to the crease in the fourth over as Harmeet Singh bowled two deliveries down the leg side, which he swept behind square for four, while Jason Roy ended the over with a third boundary.

The two batters kept the scoreboard ticking and were 47-1 at the end of the powerplay.

They rotated strike well and managed to get the odd boundary almost in every over, keeping the run rate under check.

Rickelton couldn’t stay out of the game as Roy looked to take down Harmeet, but a top edge was safely taken by the opener at backward point, and David Miller departed soon after.

Chand, however, stood strong and brought up his fifty by pulling Ali Sheikh over deep mid-wicket for a maximum and looked like he would take the LAKR across the finish line.

He ended up lofting Harmeet straight down long on’s throat.

Before any jitters were sent through the LAKR camp, Andre Russell and Saif Badar hit a maximum each, leading the West Coast side to their second win of the tournament.
