Los Angeles Knight Riders scored 165/6 in 20 overs, where as San Francisco Unicorns scored 166/4 in 15.2 overs.
So, finally San Francisco Unicorns beat Los Angeles by 6 wickets.
Finn Allen and Matthew Short struck a combined total of 10 sixes during their pivotal 116-run partnership for the second wicket, setting the stage for San Francisco Unicorns’ successful run-chase against the LA Knight Riders in Dallas on Sunday (July 7).
Despite the Knight Riders recovering from an early setback to post 165/6, it proved insufficient as the Unicorns completed the chase with 4.4 overs to spare, securing victory by six wickets.
The Knight Riders found themselves in trouble at 44 for 3 in the seventh over, but Shakib Al Hasan and Nitish Kumar steadied the innings with a 45-run partnership off 31 deliveries.
Shakib’s departure for 35 off 26 halted their progress, though David Miller and Andre Russell’s late efforts pushed the total further to a competitive level.
San Francisco’s Spencer Johnson dismissed Jake-Fraser McGurk early in the third over, bringing Allen and Short together for their decisive partnership.
Short began aggressively, launching a six off the first ball over mid-wicket.
Allen capitalized on Russell’s bowling, smashing four sixes in an over, and followed up with three consecutive sixes off Shakib, all over long-on, as the Unicorns reached 67/1 by the end of the Power Play.
Short continued the assault after the Power Play, hitting two sixes off medium-pacer Corne Dry in the seventh over.
Their consistent boundary-hitting kept the Unicorns well ahead in the chase, progressing from 67/1 in 6 overs to 117/1 in 10 overs.
Allen reached his half-century off 25 balls, while Short achieved his in 23 balls during the 12th over, which yielded 14 runs.
Despite Short falling to a carrom ball from Narine, the Unicorns needed just 35 runs off 53 balls when Allen also departed to Johnson, a mere formality for the Knight Riders.
Corey Anderson and Hassan Khan calmly guided their team to victory in the 16th over, sealing a comprehensive win for the Unicorns.
