Mandla Mashimbyi has been appointed as the new head coach of the South Africa Women’s team, Cricket South Africa confirmed on Friday (November 29).
“Mandla will focus on preparing the team for international competitions, implementing high-performance strategies, driving CSA’s transformation goals, and fostering a culture of excellence and pride,” said CSA in a statement.
Although Mashimbyi never played international cricket, he had a successful professional career with the Titans, Knights, and Griquas, featuring in 44 one-day matches and 39 first-class games.
His playing career was cut short in 2010 due to persistent knee injuries.
As a coach, the 44-year-old has won multiple championships with the Titans and has also worked with the senior Men’s team as a bowling coach and assistant coach.
Most recently, he served as the fast bowling coach for Paarl Royals in the SA20.
Mashimbyi will succeed Dillon du Preez, who served as interim head coach.

“I am fully aware of the significant responsibilities and expectations that come with this esteemed position.
“I am extremely grateful for the incredible opportunity I had with Titans Cricket, whose unwavering support over the past eleven years has played a crucial role in my growth and development as a coach.”
