England’s latest Test debutant, Jacob Bethell, has received a contract upgrade from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The left-hander, who was previously on a developmental contract, has now been awarded a two-year central contract.
This move places Bethell in the prestigious company of players like Joe Root, Jos Buttler, and Harry Brook, who lead the list.
Additionally, the pace trio of Jofra Archer, Matthew Potts, and Brydon Carse have had their contracts extended until 2026.
The central contract comes as a well-timed boost for Bethell, who has enjoyed a standout season.
The 21-year-old made his ODI and T20I debuts during the white-ball series against Australia in September, before making his Test debut in the ongoing tour of New Zealand.
Recognized for his immense talent and potential leadership qualities, Bethell’s rise over the past year has been impressive.
The rest of the ECB Central Contracts list remains unchanged.
