Bangladesh have recalled Sharmin Akhter and Jahanara Alam for the upcoming ODI series against Ireland
Sharmin Akhter Supta and Jahanara Alam have been recalled to the Bangladesh women’s ODI squad as the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced a 15-member team for the upcoming home series against Ireland.
The squad features some changes, with Taj Nehar and Shanjida Akhter Maghla receiving their maiden ODI call-ups.
Sharmin last played an ODI in July 2023, while veteran pacer Jahanara last featured in the format in May 2023.
“Supta has been in excellent form with the bat and performed well in the NCL, earning her place in the squad for the series against Ireland,” said Sazzad Ahmed, head of the national women’s selection panel, speaking to Cricpulse on Monday.
“Jahanara has also been performing well and was part of the T20I squad,” he added.
“Taj Nehar is a big prospect in the middle order, and we want to give her the opportunity to showcase her talent in the 50-over format,” Ahmed explained.
Meanwhile, Disha Bishwas, Sumaiya Akter, Nishita Akhter, and Farzana Haque Lisa have been dropped from the ODI squad.
Bangladesh will host Ireland for three ODIs and three T20Is as part of the ICC FTP programme.
The ODIs will be played in Mirpur on November 27, November 30, and December 2, while the T20Is will take place in Sylhet on December 5, 7, and 9.
