In a significant move to strengthen their coaching staff, Rajasthan Royals have appointed Vikram Rathour as the team’s batting coach.

This follows the arrival of Rahul Dravid as head coach—a notable addition given Dravid’s successful tenure with the India men’s team, culminating in T20 World Cup victory.

Rathour, who previously worked alongside Dravid in the Indian setup, reunites with him as they aim to shape the future of RR in the upcoming seasons.

Although Rathour’s international playing career was brief, he has played a crucial role in nurturing India’s next generation of batters in recent years.

Dravid expressed enthusiasm about Rathour’s appointment and his hopes of replicating their previous successes together.

“Having worked closely with Vikram for many years, I can confidently say that his technical expertise, calm demeanor, and deep understanding of Indian conditions make him a perfect fit for the Royals,” said Dravid.

“Together, we’ve built a strong rapport, guiding India to significant successes, and I’m thrilled to reunite with him.

His ability to nurture young talent and elevate players’ potential will be invaluable as we work to strengthen our squad and build a world-class team at Rajasthan Royals.”

The goals of Dravid and Rathour mirror those they pursued with India.

Since 2007, India has faced a T20 World Cup drought and has not secured an ICC Trophy since 2013, despite coming close on several occasions.

Similarly, the Royals’ sole IPL title came in the inaugural season in 2008.

The franchise has faced challenges over the years, but progress has been evident since Sanju Samson took over as captain.

In 2022, RR came closest to claiming their second title, finishing as runners-up to the Gujarat Titans.

Rathour echoed Dravid’s aspirations for RR and expressed optimism about their new partnership.

“It’s a privilege to be part of the Royals family.

The chance to work with Rahul again, alongside a talented group of young cricketers, is incredibly exciting.

I look forward to contributing to the team’s vision and helping develop top-class players for the Royals and for India, ultimately aiming for championship success.”
