Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have appointed Omkar Salvi as the new men’s bowling coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Salvi, who has earned recognition for his success as a coach in the domestic circuit, guided Mumbai’s senior men’s team to their first Ranji Trophy title in eight years and later helped the team clinch the Irani Cup against Rest of India.

The 46-year-old coach also had a brief but impactful stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he was part of the coaching staff during their IPL title win in the 2024 season.

This will be Salvi’s first full IPL coaching role, and he is expected to begin his tenure with RCB after the ongoing Indian domestic season.

RCB’s Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, expressed his excitement about Salvi’s appointment, emphasizing the importance of a strong bowling attack in T20 cricket.

Bobat believes Salvi’s experience, particularly in developing fast bowlers, will be key to helping the franchise improve its fortunes as it continues its pursuit of an IPL title.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Omkar Salvi as RCB’s Bowling Coach.

With his extensive experience, particularly in fast-bowler development, and his success at both domestic and IPL levels, he is the perfect addition to our coaching staff.

His technical expertise, local knowledge, and leadership will bring tremendous value to our team,” Bobat said.

Salvi will join forces with Dinesh Karthik, who was previously appointed as RCB’s batting coach for the upcoming season.

The two had previously worked together at KKR, where their collaboration played a part in the team’s IPL success.
