India and Bangladesh have been confirmed as the hosts for the next two editions of the Asia Cup, according to the Invitation for Expression of Interest (IEOI) from the Asian Cricket Council for sponsorship rights.

India, the most successful team in the competition’s history with eight titles, are the defending champions as well.

They have hosted the tournament only once prior to this, back in 1990, where they beat Sri Lanka in the final.

Since 2016, the tournament has occasionally been played in the T20 format to align with upcoming global tournaments.

With a T20 World Cup scheduled in 2026, the 2025 edition of the Asia Cup will also be played in the 20-over format.

Similarly, the 2027 edition, scheduled to be held in Bangladesh, will be played in the ODI format in consideration of the 50-over World Cup in South Africa in the same year.

Both editions will feature 13 matches each.

In addition to India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan, there will be a sixth participant selected through a qualifying tournament.
