Nitish Reddy is ruled out of Zimbabwe T20Is and Shivam Dube is named as Replacement
In a disappointing turn of events for Nitish Reddy, the middle-order batter has been ruled out of the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, delaying his debut in international cricket.
Although the nature of the injury was not disclosed, the BCCI stated that its medical team is monitoring the 21-year-old’s condition.
Allrounder Shivam Dube has been named as Nitish’s replacement for the Zimbabwe series.
Dube is currently part of the India squad in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 and has played in all games so far.
The 31-year-old middle-order batter has made significant contributions in the matches against Australia, Bangladesh, and the USA.
India’s T20I squad for the Zimbabwe series, led by Shubman Gill, now includes three players from the T20 World Cup squad with the inclusion of Dube, alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson.
Gill was among the reserves for the T20 World Cup, along with Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan, who are all part of the squad for the Zimbabwe series.
The five-match series will be played on July 6, 7, 10, 13, and 14, with the Harare Sports Club hosting all games.
