Charith Asalanka is going to captain Sri Lanka team in T20I series against India

Sri Lanka have announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against India, with Charith Asalanka appointed as captain.
Asalanka takes over from Wanindu Hasaranga, who stepped down as captain following the recent T20 World Cup.
The revamped squad sees the departure of veteran Angelo Mathews and experienced Dhananjaya de Silva, while senior players Dinesh Chandimal and Kusal Janith Perera return, signaling significant changes from their disappointing World Cup campaign.
Uncapped 21-year-old Chamindu Wickramasinghe, along with Binura Fernando and Avishka Fernando, have been included, while Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dilshan Madhushanka are left out.
Asalanka recently led Jaffna Kings to a title win in the Lankan Premier League, where Avishka Fernando was the highest run-scorer among Sri Lankan players.
Kusal Perera also impressed with 296 runs at a strike rate of 169.
On the bowling front, left-arm seamer Binura Fernando returns to the national side after taking 13 wickets in eight LPL matches.
This series will be Sri Lanka’s first T20I outing since their early exit from the World Cup in the USA and West Indies.
The three-match series against the world champions India will be held in Pallekele, starting on July 27.
