Matheesha Pathirana and Dilshan Madushanka have been ruled out of the ODIs against India

Sri Lankan fast bowling duo Dilshan Madushanka and Matheesha Pathirana have been ruled out of the ODI series against India, which begins on August 2.
This setback further compounds Sri Lanka’s challenges, as they had already lost Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thushara to injuries before the T20I series.
To address the shortage, uncapped fast bowlers Mohamed Shiraz and Eshan Malinga have been added to the ODI squad as replacements.
Additionally, Kusal Janith Perera, Pramod Madushan, and Jeffrey Vandersay have been named as standbys.
Madushanka sustained a Grade 2 left hamstring injury during a fielding practice session, while Pathirana suffered a mild sprain to his right shoulder while attempting a catch during the third T20I on July 30 in Kandy, according to a Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) media release.
Shiraz boasts an impressive List A record with 80 wickets from 47 games at an economy rate of 4.57, while 23-year-old Malinga, who made his debut in July 2022, has claimed 12 wickets in seven matches with an economy rate of 5.80.
The uncapped pair will be eager to seize this opportunity against India and enhance their prospects in Sri Lanka’s fast bowling lineup, which has been frequently disrupted by injuries.
