Day-2 Afternoon Session Highlights:

Rohit was dismissed in the second over.

At The Tea of Day-2:

India scored 51/2 (1st Innings), where as Australia scored 474 (1st Innings).

So, finally India trail by 423 runs.

Rohit Sharma’s return to the top of the order was short-lived as he was dismissed in just the second over of India’s reply to Australia’s 474.

KL Rahul joined Yashasvi Jaiswal and seemed poised to take India to the Tea break, but he was undone by an unplayable delivery from Pat Cummins just before the break.

Australia resumed after an eventful morning session at 454/7 but quickly lost two wickets.

Mitchell Starc was the first to go after Lunch, bowled by Ravindra Jadeja for playing down the wrong line.

In the very next over, India got the rub of the green when Steve Smith, having made a century earlier, danced down the pitch for a big shot through the off-side against Akash Deep, but the ball ricocheted off his leg and dislodged the bails.

The final-wicket stand between Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon lasted for eight overs, with Boland successfully reviewing two LBW calls.

Jasprit Bumrah returned to clean up the innings, dismissing Lyon in his 29th over, marking his longest spell in a Test innings.

The change in batting position didn’t bring any relief for India captain Rohit Sharma, as his poor run in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy continued.

Rohit fell in the second over trying to pull a ball that wasn’t short enough, offering a leading edge to Boland at mid-on.

Rahul came in early and appeared comfortable with Jaiswal, who also gained confidence as the innings progressed.

But just before the session break, Rahul was squared up by a Cummins delivery that straightened off the length, hitting the top of his off-stump.

India went to Tea at 51/2, with Australia in control after taking two early wickets.

The morning session had already set the tone, with Smith’s 34th Test century, his 11th against India, guiding Australia to a dominant position.

India struggled with both ball and field, leaking runs quickly, while Cummins chipped in with a quickfire 49 before being dismissed by Jadeja.
