At The Tea of Day-3:

India scored 150 (1st Innings) and 359/5 (2nd Innings), where as Australia scored 104 (1st Innings).

So, finally India lead by 405 runs.

India finished the post-Lunch session on 359/5, extending their lead to a commanding 405 runs on Day 3 of the first Test in Perth.

Despite Australia taking four wickets at regular intervals, Yashasvi Jaiswal added 20 more runs to his total, while Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 40.

The heat, reaching 35 degrees, caused some cracks to emerge on the pitch, with a couple of deliveries keeping low and Nathan Lyon extracting some turn.

Josh Hazlewood, who had bowled 16 overs without a wicket, finally got his breakthrough as Devdutt Padikkal was caught behind off the first ball after Lunch.

Kohli, the new batter, appeared more composed than in the first innings, standing further back at the crease and playing some elegant drives through the offside and down the ground.

Jaiswal survived a second run-out chance when Travis Head’s throw missed the stumps while the batters scrambled for a single.

He then punched Mitchell Starc down the ground for a boundary before reaching 150 with a single.

Remarkably, Jaiswal has consistently converted his hundreds into 150s.

However, his impressive knock came to an end when he edged a loose delivery from Mitchell Marsh to the point fielder.

Australia fought back with two quick wickets, as Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel fell for one run each in consecutive overs.

Pant attempted an aggressive shot off Marsh but missed, and Lyon, anticipating another charge, bowled wide, allowing Alex Carey to stump him.

Jurel was LBW to Pat Cummins, with DRS confirming the ball was clipping the stumps.

Kohli and Washington Sundar then added an unbeaten 38-run partnership until Tea.

Kohli looked in excellent touch, playing confidently and leaving deliveries outside the off-stump.

He also upper-cut Starc for six over backward point, while Washington lofted Head for a maximum over cover.

The pair saw India safely through the remainder of the session, leaving the team in a strong position.

Earlier in the day, Jaiswal had brought up his fourth Test century, his third of the year, as India’s top order continued to dominate.

KL Rahul had been the only wicket to fall in the first session, dismissed for 77 by Starc.
