Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim and fast bowler Mohammad Amir have once again announced their retirement from international cricket.

However, both will continue playing domestic and franchise cricket around the world.

Imad had previously retired from international cricket last year, but his outstanding performances in the Pakistan Super League, where he was named player of the match in all three playoff games for the eventual champions, Islamabad United, led to his return to international cricket in the T20 format.

With the T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in the Caribbean, Imad made a comeback to the T20I squad after discussions with PCB officials.

Unfortunately, Pakistan’s disappointing campaign, which saw them miss out on a Super 8 berth to the United States, resulted in Imad being overlooked for selection afterward.

“After much thought and reflection, I have decided to retire from international cricket,” Imad shared on social media.

“Representing Pakistan on the world stage has been the greatest honor of my life, and every moment wearing the green jersey has been unforgettable.

While this chapter comes to an end, I look forward to continuing my journey in cricket through domestic and franchise cricket, and I hope to keep entertaining you all in new ways.”

Similarly, Amir, 32, had also reversed his initial retirement to feature in this year’s T20 World Cup.

He had announced his retirement at the age of 28 in December 2020, but has remained a regular presence in franchise T20 tournaments globally.

Recently, he played in the Abu Dhabi T10 league and also featured alongside Imad for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the Caribbean Premier League.

“It has been a great honor to play for Pakistan across all three formats.

I know this is a difficult decision, but I feel this is the right time for the next generation to take the baton and elevate Pakistan cricket to new heights,” said Amir.

“I would like to thank the PCB for always extending the much-needed support over the years and I look forward to watching the team excel.

I would also like to thank Pakistan fans for always supporting me throughout my career.”
