Fast bowler Siddarth Kaul has announced his retirement from Indian cricket, bringing an end to a professional career that began 17 years ago with a first-class debut in Mohali.

The 34-year-old, who represented India in three ODIs and as many T20Is, took to Instagram to share the news.

“As a child playing cricket in the fields of Punjab, I had one dream—to represent my country.

In 2018, by God’s grace, I received my India Cap Number 75 in the T20I team and Cap Number 221 in the ODI team,” he wrote.

“The time has now come to call an end to my career in Indian cricket and announce my retirement.”

Kaul’s career highlights include being part of the victorious Under-19 World Cup team in 2008, led by Virat Kohli.

He was a key player for Punjab in white-ball cricket throughout the years, with a standout performance in the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he finished as the team’s leading wicket-taker with 16 wickets in 10 matches.

He also topped the wickets chart for Punjab in the previous year’s Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Earlier this year, Kaul played three County Championship matches for Northamptonshire and two Ranji Trophy games, though he went wicketless in both of his recent Ranji appearances.

Over his career, he has claimed 297 wickets from 88 first-class games at an average of 26.77.

Kaul also featured in 55 IPL matches across three franchises—Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

His standout performances came in the 2017 and 2018 seasons, where he took 37 wickets for SRH, earning a national team call-up for India’s 2018 tour of the UK.

He also played a role in India’s victorious Asia Cup campaign that same year, making his last appearance for India in February 2019.
