Abrar Ahmed has been sidelined with fever as Pakistan’s woes persist

Abrar Ahmed missed Day 4 at the ground due to fever and was taken to the hospital for examination.

Pakistan’s troubles deepened on Thursday (October 10) as Abrar Ahmed, their sole regular spinner for the first Test against England, was absent from the ground due to fever.

It now seems highly unlikely that he will play any further role in England’s first innings.

Cricpulse has learned that the leg spinner was taken to the hospital for examination and was subsequently admitted.

Abrar endured a grueling day three of the ongoing Multan Test, bowling 21 wicketless overs for 143 runs.

Over the course of the innings, he has bowled 35 overs across four sessions, conceding 175 runs without taking a wicket.

Pakistan’s part-time spinners—Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, and Saud Shakeel—shared nine overs between them on Wednesday, with Agha bowling six overs, Saim one, and Shakeel two.

Pakistan had already released their other two spinners, Noman Ali and Zahid Mahmood, from the squad on the first day of the Test.

The hosts had announced the squad only for the first Test leading into this series.
