1st Test
Day-4 Afternoon Session Highlights:
Harry Brook has played a brilliant knock of 317 runs to take England team to the score of 800 runs
At The Tea of Day-4:
England scored 823/7d (1st Innings), where as Pakistan scored 556 (1st Innings).
So, finally England lead by 267 runs.
England became the first team in over 27 years to surpass the 800-run mark in Test cricket, as they ruthlessly piled on runs against Pakistan in the opening Test in Multan.
Harry Brook etched his name in history, becoming the sixth Englishman to score a triple century.
His 317 off 322 balls was the second-fastest triple ton in Test history, and he appeared poised to challenge Brian Lara’s legendary 400 before finally falling.
Joe Root, who was also on the verge of a triple century, was dismissed for 262 by Agha Salman, who trapped him leg-before.
The duo had shared a monumental 454-run partnership, the fourth-highest in Test history, which completely dominated the day’s proceedings.
England declared at 823/7, securing a mammoth 267-run first-innings lead and putting Pakistan out of their misery.
After lunch, Brook quickly took charge, reaching 250 with a pair of boundaries off Saim Ayub, matching Root’s pace and marking only the third time in Test cricket that two players have crossed the 250 mark in the same innings.
That colossal 454-run stand also became the fourth-highest in Test history.
Just as both players were eyeing their triple centuries, Salman trapped Root lbw with a ball that kept low.
Despite the setback, England’s aggression didn’t waver.
Jamie Smith signaled his intentions with a boundary off his second ball, while Brook launched Salman for a six and a four in quick succession.
He continued his onslaught, hammering Naseem Shah for another six, bringing his score into the 290s.
Brook’s triple century came up in just 310 balls, making it the second-fastest in Test history behind Virender Sehwag’s 2008 effort.
However, any hopes of Brook breaking Lara’s record evaporated as Pakistan picked up a few quick wickets before England declared.
