At The Tea of Day-2:

Pakistan scored 515/8 (1st Innings) vs England

Agha Salman’s unbeaten 79 has propelled Pakistan’s innings to 515/8 at Tea on Day 2 of the first Test in Multan.

Partnering with Shaheen Afridi, Salman extended Pakistan’s lead with an unbroken ninth-wicket stand, adding more frustration to England’s efforts.

Salman and Saud Shakeel had earlier shared a half-century partnership, with Shakeel falling 18 runs shy of a century.

Salman then held firm against England’s bowlers, notably after a morning session where Naseem Shah, Pakistan’s nightwatchman, defended resolutely for over an hour before eventually falling to Brydon Carse for 33.

As the Lunch break approached, England had a moment of relief when they dismissed Mohammed Rizwan, who was caught at mid-off after failing to clear the in-field off Jack Leach.

However, the English bowlers couldn’t capitalize, as Shakeel and Salman resumed their stand, with Salman aggressively attacking Leach after the break, hitting two boundaries early on.

Though he was nearly dismissed on one occasion when Chris Woakes put down a catch at long-off, Salman’s momentum carried him beyond the ropes, allowing him to continue his charge.

He soon sent Leach over long-on for a six.

England struck twice in quick succession—first teasing Shakeel with an offspinner to induce an edge to slips, then trapping Aamer Jamal lbw after the drinks break, threatening a swift end to Pakistan’s lower order.

However, Shaheen and Salman hung on for nearly an hour, frustrating the English bowlers until the Tea break.
