Trinbago Knight Riders scored 134/8 in 20 overs, where as Antigua and Barbuda Falcons scored 135/4 in 19 overs.

So, finally Antigua and Barbuda Falcons beat Trinbago Knight Riders by 6 wickets.

A disciplined bowling performance, followed by valuable contributions from Justin Greaves and Imad Wasim, helped the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons secure a six-wicket win over the Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL 2024 on Thursday, completing the double over their opponents.

After being put in to bat, TKR could only muster a below-par 134, thanks to some late fireworks from Kieron Pollard.

In response, Greaves held firm in the chase despite early setbacks, and with crucial knocks of 36 each from Hassan Khan and Imad Wasim, the Falcons notched up their third win of the season.

The tone was set early when Mohammad Amir removed the dangerous Sunil Narine in just five balls, and Shaqkere Parris followed soon after, leaving TKR reeling at 29/2.

Their troubles deepened when Keacy Carty and Nicholas Pooran fell cheaply, reducing them to 42/4 after a shaky powerplay.

Tim David and Pollard temporarily steadied the ship with a 40-run stand, targeting left-arm spinner Hassan Khan and hitting three sixes between them.

However, Fabian Allen’s double blow—removing a well-set David and the big-hitting Andre Russell in consecutive deliveries, with the latter bagging a golden duck—threw TKR off balance again.

Pollard had to rebuild from 82/6, but it wasn’t until the penultimate over that he could break free.

Amir conceded 22 runs, including two massive sixes from Pollard, and though the TKR skipper fell in the final over, his late assault ensured a somewhat respectable total.

Chasing 135, the Falcons stumbled early, losing two of their top-three within the first four overs with just 15 on the board.

Greaves, however, steadied the ship, adding 53 runs with Hassan to bring the chase back on track before Narine struck to remove Hassan, stumped just when the partnership looked promising.

Drama unfolded on the very next delivery when Imad Wasim was controversially given out LBW by the third umpire despite a clear inside edge in the replays.

The decision was overturned, but confusion ensued as Imad had already crossed the boundary line.

A lengthy ten-minute delay followed as frustrated players and coaches debated the call before the game resumed.

Despite the chaos, Narine’s wicket-maiden left the Falcons needing 67 more at the halfway mark.

Imad and Greaves added 49 more before the latter, who was struggling, was retired out with 18 needed off 12 balls.

Imad polished off the chase with an over to spare, hitting Joshua Little for 18 runs in the penultimate over.

In another moment of controversy, Imad’s bat deflected a throw to the fence while completing a brace, resulting in six runs being awarded to the Falcons when 15 were needed off the final 10 deliveries.

TKR objected, claiming Imad had deliberately obstructed the throw.

Though the obstruction review was cleared, the incident only added to Pollard and his team’s growing frustration.
