St Kitts and Nevis Patriots scored 153/8 in 20 overs, where as Barbados Royals scored 157/8 in 19.5 overs.
So, finally Barbados Royals won by 2 wickets.
Barbados Royals clinched a thrilling two-wicket victory against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts, making it two wins from two matches.
Dunith Wellalage played a pivotal role for the Royals, taking 3 wickets for 35 runs and contributing a crucial 39 off 32 balls.
Chasing 154 for victory, the Royals secured the win with one ball to spare, thanks to Nyeem Young’s unbeaten 17 off 7 balls.
The Patriots suffered their fourth consecutive loss.
Rahkeem Cornwall was dismissed for a duck by Kyle Mayers in the opening over, and Mayers also ended Quinton de Kock’s promising innings, leaving the Royals at 25/2 by the fifth over.
Kadeem Alleyne’s 30 off 18 balls, including a four and three sixes—two maximums and the boundary coming off Wanindu Hasaranga—provided a much-needed boost, taking the Royals past 50 before the powerplay ended.
Veerasammy Permaul dismissed Alleyne, and the Patriots tightened their grip with some accurate bowling.
Hasaranga also removed Shamarh Brooks after a six, leaving the Royals at 72/4 at the halfway mark.
Rovman Powell revived the Royals’ chase with a six and a four off Mohammad Mohsin in the 12th over.
Mohsin was costly, conceding three fours in an over to Wellalage, who also hit a couple of boundaries off Ryan John.
By the 17th over, the Patriots had reduced the Royals to 126/6, with Anrich Nortje’s tight over and the wicket of Powell following Wellalage’s run-out.
Jason Holder hit a six off Mohsin in the 18th over to bring the target to 17 off two overs.
Nyeem Young then played a crucial role, scoring a vital four off Nortje in the 19th over.
Holder was dismissed by John in the final over with the Royals needing 8 runs.
Young, with a stroke of luck and a six, secured the victory with 3 needed off 2 balls.
Earlier, the Patriots’ innings got off to a disastrous start with their top three batsmen failing to score.
Evin Lewis was trapped by Maheesh Theekshana, Mayers was bowled, and Wellalage dismissed Andre Fletcher lbw.
The Patriots, however, staged a recovery through a counter-attacking 82-run partnership between Hasaranga and Mikyle Louis.
Hasaranga scored 40 off 27 balls with 5 fours and a six, while Louis contributed 30 off 20 balls with two sixes and three fours.
The Patriots suffered another collapse, dropping from 82/3 to 84/6 by the 10th over, with Wellalage taking key wickets.
The latter part of the innings was about stabilizing and batting out the overs.
Josh Clarkson and Mohsin added 20 runs in 38 balls.
However, some urgency in the death overs saw Ryan John score 29 off 14 balls in a 49-run stand with Clarkson, helping the Patriots reach 150.
