St Kitts and Nevis Patriots scored 153/8 in 20 overs, where as Antigua and Barbuda Falcons scored 154/8 in 19.4 overs.
So, finally Antigua and Barbuda Falcons beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 2 wickets.
Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir played key roles for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons as they handed the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots their fifth consecutive defeat in CPL 2024.
While the Falcons celebrated consecutive wins after opening their campaign with four straight losses, the Patriots slumped to a losing streak despite starting the tournament with a victory.
Amir set the tone early by dismissing both openers for single-digit scores, and if not for Kyle Mayers finding a few boundaries in the powerplay, St Kitts’ run rate would have been even more concerning.
However, Mayers was also dismissed on the final ball of the powerplay, leaving the Patriots in trouble.
Rilee Rossouw struggled during his time at the crease, but Wanindu Hasaranga contributed a handy cameo before falling around the halfway mark.
From there, Mikyle Louis took charge.
St Kitts were at 98 with just five overs remaining when Louis took control of the strike in the death overs.
He launched a series of powerful hits, smashing Fabian Allen and Imad for five sixes across the final two overs, bringing up a remarkable half-century that gave his side a competitive total to defend.
However, Louis’ late heroics were overshadowed as Antigua got off to a flying start in the powerplay.
Brandon King and Justin Greaves unleashed a flurry of boundaries, racing to 50 runs in just four overs.
While King was dismissed before the powerplay ended and Hasaranga removed Greaves, the Patriots managed to stage a remarkable comeback by taking wickets at regular intervals.
At 80/1, Antigua seemed in control, but a rapid collapse saw them crumble to 99/6 as Hasaranga tore through the middle order.
Despite the loss of momentum, with Sam Billings and Imad still at the crease, hope remained.
Although Billings fell quickly, Roshon Primus smashed Hasaranga for a crucial six and four to ease the pressure, and Imad, along with Allen, guided Antigua to a tense victory with just two balls to spare.
