St Lucia Kings scored 152/8 in 20 overs, where as Antigua & Barbuda Falcons scored 126/8 in 20 overs.
St Lucia Kings beat Antigua & Barbuda Falcons by 26 runs.
Chris Green’s all-round efforts (48 & 4-22) went in vain as the St Lucia Kings secured their fourth win of the season, defeating the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons by 26 runs.
After posting 152 for 8, thanks to David Wiese’s unbeaten 43 off 26 balls, the Kings restricted the Falcons to 126 for 8 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.
Johnson Charles and Faf du Plessis gave the Kings a solid start with a 40-run Powerplay partnership, but Green’s double strike quickly reduced the hosts to 42 for 3.
Tim Seifert and Akeem Auguste attempted to revive the innings, but both, along with Bhanuka Rajapaksa, were dismissed in quick succession, leaving the top six back in the dugout before the death overs.
Shamar Springer’s two wickets in the 19th over left the Kings in a precarious position, but Wiese’s onslaught in the final over against Kelvin Pitman pushed them to a competitive total.
The experienced finisher smashed three sixes: a pull over backward square, a straight hit down the ground, and a slog through deep mid-wicket.
Wiese’s start with the ball was less successful, as Kofi James took him on in the first over of the Falcons’ chase.
However, Khary Pierre provided a breakthrough, dismissing the Falcons opener and later removing Sam Billings and Jahmar Hamilton in successive deliveries, putting the visitors on the backfoot.
Pierre’s pivotal Powerplay spell left the Falcons reeling at 28 for 5.
Noor Ahmad and Roston Chase chipped in with a wicket each, further tightening the grip on the Falcons.
Captain Green stepped up with the bat, anchoring a crucial 60-run partnership with Springer to stabilize the chase.
But their cautious approach led to a rising required rate.
Just as they seemed to gain momentum, Springer was run out after a mix-up with Green, stalling the recovery.
Green continued to fight, reducing the equation to 48 runs off the last three overs.
Despite some late hitting from Roshon Primus, the Falcons couldn’t keep up, falling well short of the target and suffering their fourth loss in six games.
