South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen will be joining Saint Lucia Kings for CPL 2024, the franchise confirmed along with their list of retentions on Thursday (June 6).
The Kings have also secured the services of Afghanistan left-arm spinner Noor Ahmed and Namibian seam-bowling all-rounder David Wiese, while retaining former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis and Sri Lanka’s top-order batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa.
Colin Munro, who had been roped in as a replacement for the injured du Plessis last year, has been released, alongside the Zimbabwean pair of Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams.
Among the domestic talent, the franchise has retained the core of Caribbean players that helped them secure a fourth consecutive playoffs spot in 2023.
Johnson Charles, Alzarri Joseph, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, and Khary Pierre will all be returning for the 2024 edition.
Seam bowlers Shadrack Descarte and McKenny Clarke round out their list of retentions.
The Kings now have 12 confirmed players for the 2024 season and will have five spots to fill at the draft, slated for July.
